Taste of France Event

Taste of France event to promote language learning at primary school

Children at The Dolphin School, Montpellier are planning a tasty afternoon of activities with a cross Channel theme this month. We have a visiting student teacher from Bristol’s twin city of Bordeaux.  Lucky children will discover new vocabulary and cultural information about France and speak French to order croissants and  hot chocolate in their very own classroom café.

A group of pupils at the Dolphin School will also be taking part in a French event with language students from Colston's Girls' School.

The Dolphin School participates annually in the Bristol-Bordeaux teacher exchange where student teachers spend 2 weeks in a local school observing similarities and differences in our way of teaching and while here they deliver a lesson to the children about French culture.   The visiting teachers will learn about Bristol and the region and enjoy tea with the Lord Mayor who will speak about the importance of community links between countries.

2017 is the 70th anniversary year of the twinning between Bristol and Bordeaux which was the first Anglo-French twinning after the second world war. It was set up in a spirit of reconciliation and peace to create a stronger Europe and to avoid any future conflict.

Pupils at The Dolphin School  will all take part in a French Day on Wednesday 25th January to celebrate their learning of the French language with a day of fun activities.
