RECEPTIONIST 

Part-time, fixed term to cover maternity leave (28 hours per week) TTO plus 3 weeks to be worked in the holidays.

Venturers Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.

The Dolphin School is seeking to appoint a Receptionist who can join our brilliant admin team to cover maternity leave, starting on 7th January 2019. Training will be provided. 

Key aspects of the post include:

• Providing an efficient, welcoming and effective reception/front house service both in person and on the telephone

• Providing a point of contact for families and visitors to receive and pass on enquiries using appropriate communication

• Providing administrative support necessary in the running of the school

• Using efficiently and effectively online email/text messaging systems

• Providing clerical and other support to the Headteacher and other staff as directed

• Providing general and routine clerical/admin support e.g. lunch menus, photocopying, filing, completion of standard forms, response to routine correspondence

• Run the school meal booking system - Parentpay

• Undertaking filing, archiving files, folders and information according to school procedures

• Providing hospitality to visitors and guests, e.g. serving tea, coffee and light refreshments. Occasionally this may require shopping tasks etc.

• Assisting with pupil first aid/welfare duties, looking after sick pupils, liaising with parents/staff etc.

• Assisting with the administration of new pupils’ admissions including welcome packs, waiting lists etc.

• Operating relevant equipment/ICT packages (e.g. SIMS, School Pupil Tracker, Microsoft Office, Internet, Website and Social Media)

 

You will have:

  • Been educated to a high standard with a minimum of GCSE Grade C in maths and English (or equivalent qualifications). 
  • NVQ 2 or equivalent qualification or experience in relevant discipline
  • Good IT skills
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy skills
  • Ability to effectively use relevant equipment e.g. photocopier
  • Ability to be proactive, find solutions and demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to effectively support colleagues and contribute positively to the values and ethos of the school and Trust
  • Ability to work in line with relevant safeguarding policies and practices
  • Ability to act calmly and quickly under pressure or in an emergency
  • Ability to set up and maintain office systems and procedures
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults
  • Ability to identify your own training and development needsand cooperate with means to address these

This post is 28 hours per week and can be combined with the Lead SMSA role also currently advertised.
