Permanent full time (37 hours per week possibility of 30 hrs per week)

Term time only plus 3 weeks

 

£21,495 - £23,573 (VTG8, SP22-25) per annum pro rata (actual salary £19,828 - £21,747) + Health Care Cash Plan and Benefits Package

The Dolphin School is looking for an Attendance and Admissions Officer who will promote the welfare of all children and ensure that this is supported by parents and carers fulfilling their duties in accordance with school attendance legislation. The successful candidate will develop strategies to improve attendance, reduce persistent absence and provide targeted outreach work to those parents or families where children face significant, additional and attendance related risk of poor outcomes. You will have an approachable and confident manner allowing you to communicate with a wide variety of people and will be confident to challenge families around absence and lateness.

 

Venturers Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust based in Bristol formed through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust in September 2017. Comprising Primary, Secondary, all-age schools and a Special school the Trust has 3,200 pupils and 700 staff.  The Trust is sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol. The Dolphin School is a new and unique inner city school with an exciting future.  Every member of staff who works here has the opportunity to contribute to the creation and building of a caring, high achieving and community ethos for our school.  Having opened in September 2012, there are currently 350 children on roll in Early Years, KS1 and KS2.  We moved into our new school building Easter 2017.  With a strong vision to develop a curriculum which utilises the incredible resources available within the City of Bristol we strive to include all stakeholders within our development as a school.  

 

An exciting role has come up at the Dolphin School. We are looking for an energetic and dynamic practitioner who has a passion for working with school-aged children. The role include the following: 

 

• To set goals and work strategically to improve attendance and punctuality across the whole school, with a focus on vulnerable groups, to support the school in achieving their improvement priorities.

• To work under the direction of the Attendance Lead to take the lead in attendance. 

• To carry out the statutory functions linked with ensuring regular attendance, in accordance with 1996 Education Act and other legislation.

• To advise and recommend systems and procedures.

• To provide challenge and support to all staff on matters of attendance.

The successful candidate will have:

 

• Experience and understanding of implementing and managing attendance processes and systems needed to ensure best practice attendance.

• Excellent knowledge of relevant policies/code of practice and awareness of relevant legislation in relation to attendance.

• Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and in particular, barriers to learning.

• Experience of working with external organisations and using professional judgement to make referrals to relevant agencies/provision.
