Venturers Trust is a dynamic and focused multi-academy trust based in Bristol, formed in September 2017 through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust. The Trust is responsible for eight academies, 3,500 pupils and 750 staff with a commitment to making a significant and lifelong difference to the lives of young people from some of Bristol’s most disadvantaged communities.

The Trust is sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol. Both sponsors seek to ensure that all our young people receive a truly inspiring education. Their support, challenge and expertise are greatly valued.

The Dolphin School is a unique inner city school with an exciting future.  Every member of staff who works here has the opportunity to contribute to the creation and building of a caring, high achieving and community ethos for our school.  Having opened in September 2012, there are currently 276 children on roll in Early Years, KS1 and KS2.  We moved into our new school building Easter 2017.  With a strong vision to develop a curriculum which utilises the incredible resources available within the City of Bristol we strive to include all stakeholders within our development as a school.

We are looking to recruit staff who are genuinely inspired to work within a strong, supportive team, delivering high quality provision for the children within our care; staff who are energised by thinking outside of the box and making learning fun and fabulous.  Cross Trust working with both the secondary schools and our other primary schools gives us the opportunity to share resources and expertise.

These individuals have to be able to think and deliver high quality support using their own initiative when working on a 1:1 basis as well as having time as part of a class team. You need to be able to create resources and adapt materials with the pupil’s interests in mind so pupils will be engaged in learning plans suggested by the Class Teacher, Inclusion Manager and outside agencies. You will be expected to implement suggestions and strategies, monitor the learning plan and be responsive to pupils needs with flexibility, sensitivity and an awareness of the skills needed to effectively support pupils. Experience with Thrive or other SEND strategies is desirable.

Previous experience of working with children with SEND is essential particularly, Social Emotional Mental Health needs and Autistic Spectrum Condition. It is also essential that the candidate is resilient, flexible and has a sense of humour.  We strive to offer the highest level of education and trust that you will have equally high expectations. The Trust offers a wide variety of CPD opportunities.

We seek individuals who are eager to engage with all stakeholders and become involved in the wider life of the school in order to support our community ethos.

In return you will join a wonderful team and have every opportunity to further your professional development and career with an excellent benefit package including; Wellbeing Health Cash Plan, Retail Discounts, ICT Loans, Professional Induction Incentive plus others.

The successful candidate will have:

• GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and maths (or equivalent qualifications).

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent relevant to a Teaching Assistant role

• Experience of working effectively supporting children in a learning environment.

• Understanding of principles of child development and learning processes and in particular, barriers to learning.

• Recent and relevant professional development.

Closing date:  Monday 6th December 2021 at 9:00.  Interviews:   Friday 10th December 2021

Please note due to the expected volumes of applications it may not be possible to acknowledge or respond to all applicants.

The Dolphin School is part of Venturers Trust and is committed to equality, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all staff.
