FAMILY SUPPORT WORKER

Permanent, part-time, 30 hours per week over 4 days (please note flexible working patterns will be considered) term time only including inset days to start as soon as possible.

Venturers Trust is a dynamic and focused multi-academy trust based in Bristol, formed in September 2017 through the merger of CGS Trust and Merchants’ Academy Trust. The Trust is responsible for eight academies, 3,500 pupils and 750 staff with a commitment to making a significant and lifelong difference to the lives of young people from some of Bristol’s most disadvantaged communities.

The Dolphin School is a unique inner-city school with an exciting future.  Every member of staff who works here has the opportunity to contribute to the creation and building of a caring, high achieving and community ethos for our school.  Having opened in September 2012, there are currently 276 children on roll in Early Years, KS1 and KS2.  We moved into our new school building Easter 2017.  Our curriculum utilises the incredible resources available within the City of Bristol and we strive to include all stakeholders within this area of school.

We are looking for a Family and Attendance Support Worker to join our Pastoral Team at The Dolphin School. You will be responsible for supporting families, signposting to other agencies, building our community and running community events. 

We are looking for applicants who show an ability to work alongside families, offer high levels of emotional literacy and are able to understand and maintain safeguarding boundaries as well as empathise with and support others. You will also be responsible for helping to arrange community events both in and outside the school e.g. our famous Eid party or local carnival. 

You will support families with attendance, housing, addictions, benefits, parenting skills and behaviour management. You will work with local organisations to get families and children the right support.

The successful candidate will have:

• GCSEs at Grade C or above in English and maths (or equivalent qualifications).

• Recognised qualification in Social Care, Education or Health or equivalent and/or equivalent practical work experience.

• Significant experience working in a similar environment.

• Trained in aspects of emotional literacy including some of the following: emotional awareness, self-esteem, anger management, social and friendship skills, social communication difficulties, loss, bereavement and family break up and a willingness to undertake training to develop these further
